Achieving a college degree is one of your keys to success. It guides you to reach your dreams. Let’s be honest. Most companies prefer those candidates who graduated from college versus a high school graduate. If you’re lucky enough to be like Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates, a college graduate with credentials has many advantages.
However, not everyone is lucky enough to support their studies; some of us don’t have the ability. Especially, those students whose parents are financially challenged to support their children’s tuition fees until they finish their studies.
But, those who strive and want to reach their goal they find a way to send their selves to school by finding a job, looking for a company to support them.
It may sound challenging, But it’s worth a try rather than stopping and staying unemployed.
The Difficulties
1. Being a student while working can be challenging. It will divide your time on reviewing your lessons and reporting to work. Sometimes you might feel exhausted and get plenty of rest while in the classroom, and that might take your focus on the class. That’s why sometimes they say working while in school lowers academic performance.
2. Your assignment as a worker. Your company may require you to report often than expected, depending on how busy their business will be. You are expected to do your best and put your energy into it, as they spend a certain amount of money on you. You have to work as fast and as accurately as possible. And sometimes it may be more difficult to manage.
3. Socializing with your friends. You could miss many moments. From time to time, if your friends gather around you, you’ll probably be “out of it.”
4. Your pay will be less compared to a regular employee. Some country has it legalized. And sometimes your whole salary won’t be enough to pay and support you in your daily needs in school.
5. Figthing your “Pride”. Even if you have to keep your pride intact, sometimes it would prevent you from making a decision like this. Some of your friends may be confused about what you are doing, and you might felt sorry for your self, especially if they are luckier than you.
The advantages
1. You are more driven. Once you know what your goal is, you’ll know what to put at the top of your priority list. You will be determined to study more because you know how hard it’s going to be if you won’t reach your goal.
2. You are more prepared. You will gain experience you can use in your next career. Your work may not be connected to your college degree, but you can apply the discipline you learned.
3. You have your own money. You might be bothered about how small your salary is, But still its money you can use it in your daily life as a student. If you know how to save wisely, it might be enough to cover your expenses until you graduate.
4. Better chance of getting a job. If you have demonstrated outstanding performance in the workplace, your employer may prefer to hire you instead of hiring new employees. Or your colleagues from your workplace can help you find connections for your next job after you graduate.
5. New friends. In your job, you get to know a new set of friends. Friends that can help you make your job easy since they know you are a working student, they will be easy on you.
6. It can help you save. It might help you to reduce your budget if your company provides free food on top of your commission. Who doesn’t want free?.
